Google Wave now open for the public to join

Wave is Google's contribution to the evolution of e-mail. It's a very useful "real-time communication+document collaboration" tool to use with both your students and work colleagues. Sign-up using a Google Account at http://wave.google.com

A summary video - what is Wave?

Getting started:

A tutorial - 15 Wave features in 5 minutes:

What's the catch?

Wave doesn't work with legacy e-mail systems. For you to be productive on Wave, your friends, colleagues, students, and others need to join the new generation. This is in order that they can be invited to view and contribute to:

  • Document collaboration (on assignments, policies, etc.)
  • Real-time meeting discussions with file sharing (students, tutors, staff)
  • A Wiki replacement to more quickly assess group activities (playback to see who contributed what and where)

This is why it's also important, once registered, that you share your Wave address with others. Enjoy.
